On Thursday, 3 October, the island of Vlieland will host an AquaCOM Open Day. The event will offer a unique opportunity for residents, visitors, energy communities, and energy experts to learn more about the island’s aquathermal energy project and its ambitious goal of becoming an energy-neutral community.

The event will start at Hotel Seeduyn (Badweg 3, 8899 BV Oost-Vlieland) at 13:45h. The programme ends at 21:00h.

At 14:00h the attendees will be invited to tour some of the island’s key renewable energy installations, giving them a firsthand look at the technologies that are driving Vlieland’s transition to energy neutrality.

Between 16:00h and 19:30h there is some free time to discover the island.

Between 19:30h and 21:00h, the Open Day will feature a presentation on Vlieland’s approach to achieving energy neutrality. With ambitious plans to achieve full energy neutrality by 2030, Vlieland is positioning itself as a beacon of sustainability in the Wadden Sea region, setting an example for other small communities to follow. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with local experts.

The whole event is free of charge and open to anyone interested in sustainable energy solutions.
